
Marshall dealt Texas High’s chances at the District 15-5A crown a blow Tuesday night with a 4-3 win in eight innings at the Tigers’ diamond.
The Mavericks scored first and last, but trailed 3-1 going to the sixth inning. It was tied 3-3 after regulation.
Tigers’ Smith pitches all eight innings
Luke Smith was the hard-luck loser for the Tigers. Three of the four runs he allowed were unearned as THS committed three errors. Marshall outhit the Tigers, 11-8. Smith walked none and struck out seven.
Senior Rian Cellers led Texas High’s attack with a double and single, while driving in three runs. Zane Dodson had two hits and an RBI. Jackson Halter had two singles. Caden Miller contributed a single and scored twice, while Nathan Steele added a single.
