There’s no longer a three-way tie for first place in 5A South after Arkansas High built an early 10-2 lead and cruised past Lake Hamilton, 12-5.

The Razorbacks improve to 5-1 in conference, and the Wolves fall to 4-2. If Lakeside lost, the Hogs would be alone in first place.

Third baseman Ryan Wardlaw led Arkansas High at the plate with three hits. He scored a run, and drove in four runs. Graydon Martin had two hits, scoring two runs and driving in two.

Coach Layne Berry praises freshman

“Freshman Ryan Wardlaw was huge tonight,” said Arkansas High coach Layne Berry. “He was perfect at the plate. Graydon Martin called a great game behind the plate, and contributed two hits.”

Scott Trumble was the winning pitcher in relief of Braylon Bishop, who didn’t go the necessary four innings for the win. In three inning Bishop only allowed one hit, but walked six. Wardlaw and Martin both pitched in relief. Austin Hale started for Lake Hamilton and took the loss.
