The Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks defeated the Liberty-Eylau Lady Leopards 4-0 at Lady Hawks Field Monday. Hawks pitcher Lexi Snyder pitched 7 scoreless innings, allowing 1 hit while striking out 13 and walking only one. The game was played today after being rained out Friday.
Plesant Grove improved to 10-8-2 overall and 4-3 in district with the victory. The Lady Hawks next game is Tuesday at Pittsburg, first pitch at 6 p.m.
Addie Koller, Natalie Nicholson and Tamia Cooks led the Lady Hawks batters
The Lady Hawks batters were led by Addie Koller, Natalie Nicholson and Tamia Cooks. Koller was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Nicholson was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI and Cooks was 1-for-two.
Lady Hawks head softball coach Becca Collom said she was proud of her girls for staying focused all the way through.
“We could have adjusted better and we will in the future,” Coach Collom said.”However, I’m proud of the defense staying calm ad doing their part to keep them (Liberty-Eylau) off the board.
The Lady Leopards dropped to 2-4 in district with the loss. However, Lady Leopards head coach Lacy Middlebrooks said her team is improving.
“We made good pitches and when we do that, our defense can play,” Coach Middlebrooks said. “We kept ourselves in the ballgame and gave us a chance. We are making progress every game and I’m proud of them.”
The Lady Leopards next game is home vs Paris Tuesday.
