Liberty-Eylau High School students earn $1,500 for TXDOT traffic safety contest

TEXARKANA — Six Liberty-Eylau High School students earned a $1,500 check for placing second in the TXDOT Traffic Safety Public Service Announcement competition held in March.

The students, Michael Huddleston, Kiahryn Stewart, Ranard Warren, , Kaylee Doss, Mykaela Walthall, and Taliyah Fields, created a video about the hazards of distracted driving and competed against 12 other schools in the TXDOT-Atlanta district, which covers nine counties in the Northeast Texas area.

The funds will go towards the school’s Project Celebration.

The students were advised by English teacher Crystal Leiva.
