SAN MARCOS, Texas — No. 3 Texas Baseball extended its winning streak to 14 games with a 5-1 win over Texas State on Tuesday at Bobcat Ballpark.

The Longhorns (31-8) were led by Pete Hansen on the mound, who pitched 8.1 innings and allowed one run on three hits with four strikeouts. Hansen retired the final 17 batters he faced after getting a double play to end the third inning.

Aaron Nixon finished off the final two batters of the game, finishing of six perfect innings pitched to end the ballgame.

Texas State scored a run in the bottom of the first, taking a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly. The Bobcats got a single in the third and that would be the last baserunner they would have in the game.

The Longhorns grabbed a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third after Mike Antico worked a one-out walk, stole second and moved to third on a throwing error. Mitchell Daly drove in Antico with an RBI single and Zach Zubia followed with an RBI double to left-center.

Texas extended the lead to 4-1 after starting the seventh inning with walks by Trey Faltine and Mitch Daly. Zubia drove in his second run of the game with a single to left field and Silas Ardoin made if 4-1 with a sacrifice fly.

Pleasant Grove 6-1 win Gilmer

Ardoin drove in an insurance run in the ninth to make the score 5-1, on an RBI single that scored Daly.

Texas will return to Big 12 Conference play on the road this weekend with a series at Oklahoma State starting Friday at 7 p.m.
