Pleasant Grove found Tuesday to be productive on and off the diamond. Ten Hawks were recognized on Senior Night, and all got to play in the Hawks’ 12-5 victory over North Lamar.
“Tonight was a great night for our team, and our ten seniors,” said Pleasant Grove coach Riley Fincher. “To watch our guys respond in a great way in the game tonight was great to see.”
North Lamar definitely came to play with a postseason berth on the line. The Panthers led 4-2 after three innings. Three of those runs coming on a home run by Tripp Thoms.
Ten seniors contribute in Hawks’ win
The Hawks answered with a four-run uprising in the fourth to capture the lead. They put the contest out of reach with three runs in the fifth, and three more in the sixth.
Seniors Carson Rhodes, Reid Bingham and Coe Blain pitched for the Hawks, with Blain getting the win. He pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and striking out four.
Sophomore JM Long led Pleasant Grove’s 11-hit attack with two doubles and a single. Long drove in four runs and scored another. Brenton Clark and Josh Brown had two hits each for the Hawks. Clark had a double and single, and scored two runs. Brown drove in one run.
Lindale first opponent in playoffs
Cason Head drove in three runs with a two-run double, and a sacrifice fly. Hayden Koller plated three runs with a hit, and Alex Galvan scored three times with a single. Brock Bearden tripled and scored for the Hawks, while Tucker Anderson scored twice.
Pleasant Grove’s bi-district playoff series with Lindale is scheduled to start a week from Thursday at Hawk Field. The second, and possible third game would be at Lindale.
A $1,500 check was presented to the Hawks’ Athletic Booster Club Tuesday night. The donation came from Quinn Stanfill of Super Bingo, and Bob Delgiorno of ESPN Texarkana Radio.
