Texas A&M-Texarkana's Jared Davis earns Eagles opening win in Red River Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament.


SHREVEPORT, La. – The top three seeds were upset in the first round of the Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament at Pilot Stadium. Texas A&M-Texarkana recorded one of the upsets by routing LSU-Alexandria, 14-3.

Regular season co-champions Our Lady of the Lake and LSU-Shreveport were dealt similar results. University of the Southwest (N.M.) beat the host Pilots, 9-6. Houston-Victoria scored one of the upsets over Our Lady of the Lake, 12-3.

Saturday’s action begins at noon with Our Lady of the Lake playing LSU-Shreveport. Houston-Victoria and LSU-Alexandria play at 3:30 p.m., and the Eagles (27-22) play Southwest (22-31) at 7 p.m. Southwest won three of four this year against Texarkana.


Davis’ gem upsets LSU-Alexandria

Senior Jared Davis once again proved he’s one of the top pitchers in the RRAC. He went seven innings Friday, holding the Generals to one earned run, while scattering five hits. He walked three and struck out six. Alexandria’s Jordan Ardoin accounted for all three of his team’s runs with two homers.

Cole Chambers and Jaylen Prince led TAMU-T’s 17-hit assault with three hits each. Chambers had three singles and scored four runs. Prince had two doubles and a single. He scored twice and drove in five runs.

Wyatt Stavinoha, T.J. Krause and Ethan Rodriguez contributed two hits each. Krause and Rodriguez haven’t played a lot this season. T.J. had two doubles and drove in three runs. Rodriguez drove in two runs and scored once with his two singles.
