TEXARKANA — The Miller County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man suspected of fatally shooting his wife.
The sheriff’s office says they arrested Curtis Carnley Sr. on a first degree murder charge on June 22 at around 2:00 p.m., a day after investigators had discovered his wife, 44-year-old Trisha Carnley, dead inside a residence at Miller County Road 10.
According to the sheriff’s office, Mrs. Carnley had been missing since Sunday evening, and a call was made to the Miller County Sheriff’s Office regarding a missing person. The law enforcement agency says that family reported they had not seen or heard from Mrs. Carnley, and that her residence was secure but no one was answering the door.
After investigators and family forced their way into the home on County Road 10, they discovered Mrs. Carnley, who appeared to have succumbed to a single gunshot wound. A search warrant was obtained, and the residence was searched and processed for evidence. The body has been transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory.
The sheriff’s office says an arrest warrant was issued for Mr. Carnley at around 1:45 p.m. on June 22, and he was arrested without incident around 15 minutes later by deputies, who were responding to a civilian call about possibly seeing the suspect walking along County Road 5 in the southern part of the county.
Carnley is being medically evaluated and will be booked into the county’s detention Center where he will be held without bond pending his first judicial appearance later this week.
The investigation into Mrs. Carnley’s death remains active.
