ROUND ROCK EXPRESS – L, 8-6 VS. ALBUQUERQUE

Triple-A West, East Division (28-29, 3rd, -5.0 GB)

Today’s Probable Starter: RHP Tyler Phillips

Round Rock fell 8-6 on Saturday night against the opposing Albuquerque Isotopes at Dell Diamond, dropping below .500 for the first time this season. 1B Curtis Terry (2-for-4, 2 R, BB) belted two HR and had a game-high 4 RBI. In the past 9 G, Terry has boosted his BA to .317 and currently ranks among league leaders in RBI (T3rd, 46) and HR (T5th, 15). DH Yohel Pozo (3-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 R) connected for his 10th home run to match his single-season career high (10 HR w/ Low-A Hickory in 2018). The relief trio of RHP Demarcus Evans, RHP Scott Engler, and RHP Joe Gatto combined to finish the game with 5.0 shutout innings on 6 strikeouts.

 

FRISCO ROUGHRIDERS – L, 4-3 AT ARKANSAS

Today’s Probable Starter: RHP A.J. Alexy

The RoughRiders suffered a 4-3 loss in walk-off fashion on Saturday night at Arkansas. DH Josh Stowers once again powered the Frisco offense, going 2-for-4 with a 2B and 2 RBI. His 29 RBI (in just 38 G) are 2nd-most on the club behind Steele Walker (33 RBI). 3B Josh Jung (1-for-3, R) has at least one hit in 6 of 7 G to begin the month of July. C Matt Whatley went 2-for-4 with a 2B out of the 9-hole. Starter RHP Yerry Rodriguez (5.0 IP, 3 R-ER) took no decision despite matching his season high with 7 strikeouts.

 

HICKORY CRAWDADS – L, 9-6 / W, 8-7 AT WINSTON-SALEM

High-A East, South Division (25-34, T7th, -13.0 GB)

Today’s Probable Starter: LHP Grant Wolfram

The Crawdads split a doubleheader matchup against the Winston-Salem Dash on Saturday. LF/DH Miguel Aparicio (3-for-7) dazzled offensively in both games for the ‘Dads, collecting a HR, 3B, 2B, 2 RBI, 4 R, and a BB. Over the past nine games, Aparicio has slashed .462/.576/1.154. In Game 1, Aparicio’s leadoff HR was the first of 4 Hickory home runs, as DH Blaine Crim (team-high 12 HR) went deep for the 4th straight game. Crim during current 12-G hit streak: .417/.453/.875/1.328 (20-48) with 6 HR and 20 RBI. In Game 2, the ‘Dads scored 3 times in the 8th for an extra-innings win.

DOWN EAST WOOD DUCKS – L, 5-4 AT FAYETTEVILLE

Today’s Probable Starter: RHP Mason Englert

Despite a 9th inning rally, the Woodies lost 5-4 to Fayetteville on Saturday night. DH Dustin Harris hit a solo HR in the 1st inning, his 3rd HR of July. SS Luisangel Acuna was 1-for-5 with 2 RBI, as he has 10 RBI in his last 6 G at .435 (10-23). LF Angel Aponte (2-for-4, 2B, 2R) and 1B Cristian Inoa (2- for-4) both logged a multi-hit outing. In relief, RHP Marc Church struck out 3 of 6 batters faced over 1.2 scoreless innings.

 

ACL RANGERS – W, 10-9 VS ACL ANGELS

Arizona Complex League West (3-6, 5th, -4.5 GB)

Today’s Probable Starter: Off Day

The ACL Rangers edged the ACL Angels 10-9 on Saturday, rallying to score 4 runs in the top of the 9th. The Rookie Rangers drew 14 walks, including 6 straight to begin the 9th inning, as the club scored 4 runs without a hit in that inning. 3B Alisson Del Orbe (3-for-5, 3B, 2B, RBI, R) had 3 of the team’s 4 hits, and he is batting .412 (7-17) to open his campaign. CF Zion Bannister doubled and scored 2 runs. RHP Connor Sechler (2.0 IP, 0 R, 4 SO) has struck out 14 of 20 batters faced over his first 3 G/5.2 IP of the season.
