TEXARKANA — The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department (TAPD) says they are canceling the 2021 PRIDE ACADEMY.
The police department cited in a press release that they were doing so out of an abundance of caution and out of consideration for the health and safety of the kids.
“As [COVID-19] cases continue to rise with more and more new cases being children, we cannot in good conscience place any child in danger or risk them getting sick,” the release said.
TAPD says the department is “very disappointed” and looked forward to celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the program.
The department says they are confident they will have the pride academy in 2022.
