Today’s Probable Starter: OFF DAY

Round Rock dropped a 5-4 decision on Tuesday night against Oklahoma City at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. LF Leody Taveras (1-for-3, 2 RBI, BB) lifted a 2-run HR in the 5th inning, as his 17 HR this season rank T2nd among club leaders (19-Pozo, 17-Taveras/Terry). The 22-year-old’s 55 RBI in 2021 are one shy of matching his career high of 56 set in 2019. C John Hicks (3-for-4, R, 2 SB) recorded a pair of stolen bases and a trio of singles to raise his August slash line to .320/.346/.640/.986 (16-50). LHP Jake Latz surrendered 4 R-ER over 4.0 IP in his 2nd career start at Triple-A (6 H, 2 BB, 5 SO).

 

FRISCO ROUGHRIDERS – POSTPONED (RAIN)

Frisco’s Tuesday night contest against the Arkansas Travelers was postponed due to inclement weather. The two clubs are scheduled to attempt to play a full 9-inning game tonight at ‘Rider’s Field with the makeup game set to be rescheduled at a later date.

Last night’s game between the Crawdads and Winston-Salem Dash contest was postponed due ongoing poor weather conditions caused by Tropical Storm Fred. The status of tonight’s contest will be determined at a later time following consultation with local meteorologists.

 

DOWN EAST WOOD DUCKS – W, 5-1 VS KANNAPOLIS

Today’s Probable Starter: RHP John Matthews The Woodies cruised to a 5-1 victory over the Kannapolis Cannonballs last night after plating 3 runs in the game’s opening frame. Starting RHP Gavin Collyer did not factor into the decision, but racked up 7 strikeouts over 4.2 scoreless innings (2 H, 3 BB). The 20-year-old righty has only allowed just one run over his last 3 appearances (0.66 ERA), holding opponents to a .128 BA (6-47) with 15 K’s in that span. SS Keyber Rodriguez (1-for-4, 2 RBI, SB) led the Ducks offensively, connecting for his 4th HR of the season in the 3rd inning. CF Angel Aponte worked 2 walks, and swiped his 12th SB of ’21. RHP Nick Yoder bagged the win after working 2.1 perfect frames in relief (0 H, 0 BB, 5 SO).

 

ACL RANGERS – W, 9-1 VS ACL ROYALS BLUE Arizona Complex League West (15-18, 2nd, -9.5 GB)

Today’s Probable Starter: OFF DAY

The ACL Rangers defeated the ACL Royals Blue 9-1 on Tuesday night, pushing themselves into 2nd place in the ACL West division standings behind the ACL Mariners (25-9). RF Yosy Galan (2-for-5, HR, 3B) collected 7 total bases and a game-high 4 RBI, as he has homered in 3 of his last 4 G. Galan through 10 G in August: .333/.378/.810/1.187 (14-42), 9 XBH (4 HR, 3 3B, 2 2B) and 16 RBI. 3B Davis Wendzel reached base 3 times via 2 singles and a walk, his 2nd straight multi-hit showing on current rehab assignment. 1B Junior Paniagua (1-for-4, 3 RBI) hit a bases-clearing double as part of a 5-run 6th inning by the Rangers to put the game out of reach. Rangers pitchers combined to allow 5 H/4 BB while striking out 14, including 3 K’s by RHP Alex Speas (1.1 SHO IP).
