ROUND ROCK EXPRESS – L, 7-5 (10) VS. EL PASO

Today’s Probable Starter: RHP A.J. Alexy

Round Rock lost its 3rd straight on Thursday, falling 7-5 in extra innings to El Paso. Despite a game-tying 2-run homer by 1B Charles Leblanc in the bottom of the 8th, the Chihuahuas scored twice in the top of the 10th to secure the win. 2B Nick Solak went 3-for-5, extending his hit streak to 9 G (.429, 15-35) and boosting his overall Triple-A batting average to .353 (30-85) in 22 G. CF Leody Taveras went 2-for-4 with a double, walk, and run scored, as the 22-year-old has reached via H or BB in 11 consecutive contests at .351 (13-37) with 8 XBH (4 HR, 3B, 3 2B), 8 RBI, and more BB (9) than K’s (7).

 

FRISCO ROUGHRIDERS – L, 3-0/L, 8-2 VS. ARKANSAS

Double-A Central, South Division (53-39, 1st, +8.5 GA)

Today’s Probable Starter: RHP Ronny Henriquez

Frisco dropped both ends of Thursday’s doubleheader, held to 2 runs over the course of both contests. In game one, the ‘Riders came within 2 outs of being no-hit by Mariners prospect RHP Matt Brash. 3B Josh Jung broke up the no-hit bid in the 7th. In game two, Frisco was held to 3 singles in an 8-2 loss. SS Davis Wendzel had an RBI groundout in his 1st game back with the ‘Riders following an injury rehab assignment. CF Bubba Thompson singled, walked, and stole his 20th base of 2021. RHP Tai Tiedemann took the loss despite no ER allowed (3.2 IP, 4 R-0 ER), as Frisco committed 3 errors.

 

HICKORY CRAWDADS – POSTPONED (RAIN)

Hickory’s scheduled doubleheader against Winston-Salem was rained out on Thursday, as the remnants of Tropical Storm Fred rolled through western North Carolina. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 4 p.m. The other scheduled game for Thursday has been cancelled and will not be made up.

DOWN EAST WOOD DUCKS – W, 14-3 AT KANNAPOLIS

Low-A East, Central Division (54-38, 2nd, -1.5 GB)

Today’s Probable Starter: RHP Mason Englert

Down East exploded for 14 runs on 18 hits in a blowout win on Thursday at Kannapolis, the club’s 4th straight win. Down East had just 2 extra-base hits (both 2B), but went 10-for-25 with runners in scoring position. CF Daniel Mateo (5-for-5, 3 RBI, 3 R, SF, SB) and SS Thomas Saggese (4-for-6, RBI, R) paced the Woodies on offense, combining for 9 hits and 4 RBI. Mateo is batting .365 (19-52) with 11 RBI and 17 R thru 12 G since a promotion to Low-A. Saggese is batting .426 (20-47) over his last 12 G, and the 19-year-old is now slashing .271/.384/.508/.893 for the year. RHP Nick Lockhart started and earned his 1st Low-A win (5.0 IP, 3 R-ER).

 

ACL RANGERS – L, 5-3 VS. ACL MARINERS

Arizona Complex League West (15-19, T2nd, -11.0 GB)

Today’s Probable Starter: RHP Winston Santos

The ACL Rangers dropped a 5-3 decision to the league-leading ACL Mariners on Thursday. The Mariners jumped out to an early lead against Rangers starter LHP Dylan MacLean (L, 2.0 IP, 3 R-ER). CF Ronier Lascarro (1-for-2, 2B, 2 RBI, BB) notched a 2-run double in the 5th inning to put the Rangers on the board. RF Yosy Galan (1-for-2, BB, R) has a hit and run scored in 7 straight games and has reached base safely in 14 consecutive contests at .315 (17-54) with 5 HR and 18 RBI in that span.
