The Lady Hawks Varsity volleyball team found themselves in a tight battle in the first set with 5 lead changes but went on to win the first set 25-23, and from there they kept up their pressure and went on to the sweep the Lady Rabbits with a second set win 25-16, and 3rd set win 25-15 in Hawk Gym on Friday evening.
“We came out a little sluggish, but was impressed how they come off the net quick and increased their energy,” saaid Head Volleyball Coach Amy Collvins. “Went from a lot of errors in the first to cutting those down tremendously in last set.”
The Lady Hawks are now 5-6 on the young season winning their last 3 games. Their record is a little deceiving as 5 losses were in the Tyler tournament vs 5A schools all in tight battles.
When I asked how that has helped the Lady Hawks playing bigger and faster schools early in the season Coach Collvins said “I do worry about going into the bigger fast tournaments and lose a few games but it makes us faster, improves our footwork, our hits, and our timing.”
That was exactly what it looked like tonight as the game went on.
Lady Hawks were lead tonight by our Exceed Health Care Player of the game ‘Hard Hittin’ Harleigh O’Neal with 9 kills and 7 service points, and 2 Blocks.
Adi Koller chipped in with a team high 13 service points. Mackenzie Williams lead the team in assists with 17 and had 10 service points. Hallie Lipham had 9 service points, 6 kills, and 4 assists.
