The Arkansas State Police says they are investigating the shooting death of a Crittenden County man on Interstate 40 that occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police say that 21-year-old Kindylen Roberts of Marion, Arkansas, and 23-year-old Freangelo Dosty were shot while traveling eastbound on I-40 at around 2:30 a.m.

According to police, a front-seat passenger in a second eastbound car leaned out of the window and began shooting at the car carrying Roberts and Dosty. Roberts was transported to a Little Rock hospital, and later died. Dosty was treated at the scene, police say, and later released.

Special agents from the state police’s criminal investigation division say they have arrested 24-year-old Justin Cantrell Mays on charges of capital murder and first degree battery. Mays is being held at the Pulaski County Jail.
