ROUND ROCK EXPRESS – W, 6-0 VS. SUGAR LAND

Triple-A West, East Division (57-54, T-2nd, -6.5 GB)

Today’s Probable Starter: RHP Tyson Miller

The Express blanked the Skeeters 6-0 on Sunday evening. 3B Brock Holt (2-for-4, BB, R) reached base 3 times on 2 singles and walk in his 1st start of a Triple-A rehab assignment. DH Josh Jung (2-for-5, 2 2B, RBI) notched a pair of doubles, his 2nd multi-hit showing in 3 G. SS Ryan Dorow (2-for-4, 3 RBI, R) connected for a 2-run HR in the bottom of the 3rd inning, his 9th long ball of the season. RHP David Kubiak (7 H, 0 R, 2 B, 4 SO, 0 HR) earned his 2nd win of ’21 after logging 6.0 scoreless innings, and RHP Justin Anderson struck out 4 of 7 BF over 2.0 SHO IP in relief. Anderson has tallied 13 strikeouts against 3 walks across 6 G (6.1 IP) with Round Rock since being added to the club’s active roster on 9/2.

 

FRISCO ROUGHRIDERS – L, 3-1 VS. SAN ANTONIO

Double-A Central, South Division (61-51, 1st, +5.5 GA)

Today’s Probable Starter: OFF DAY

Frisco was held to just 4 hits and a walk in last night’s 3-1 defeat against San Antonio last night. The ‘Riders plated their lone run on a single by LF J.P. Martinez (1-for-3, RBI, SB) to score DH Blaine Crim (1-for-4, 2B) in the 2nd inning. SS Josh Smith (2-for-4) singled twice as the only Frisco batter to reach base multiple times. RHP Zak Kent (L, 6.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R-ER, 1 BB, 7 SO, 2 HR) threw 41 of 49 pitches for strikes in a losing effort. Although he’s currently sporting an 0-4 record and 5.18 ERA (14 ER/24.1 IP) thru 5 G/GS at Double-A, Kent has tallied 31 K’s against 9 BB in his time as a RoughRider.

HICKORY CRAWDADS – L, 4-3 VS. GREENVILLE

High-A East, South Division (45-66, 6th, -32.5 GB)

Today’s Probable Starter: OFF DAY

The Crawdads were edged 4-3 by the Greenville Drive on Sunday night, extending the club’s current losing streak to 14 straight games. Hickory out-hit Greenville 13-to-8 in the contest, with CF Jake Guenther (3-for-4, 2 R) recording a game-high 3 hits out of the cleanup spot in the batting order. SS Frainyer Chavez (2-for-5), 3B Dustin Harris (2-for-5, R), LF Trevor Hauver (2-for-4) and 2B Derwin Barreto (2-for-4) also notched multiple hits, though the ‘Dads were held without an XBH. Starter RHP Kevin Gowdy did not factor into the decision of his 4th start for Hickory (4.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R-2 ER).

 

DOWN EAST WOOD DUCKS – W, 5-2 AT CAROLINA

Low-A East, Central Division (68-46, 1st, +3.0 GA)

Today’s Probable Starter: OFF DAY

Down East clinched a 5-2 victory yesterday at Carolina, extending their lead in the Low-A East Central division race to +3.0 GA. Starter RHP Owen White was outstanding on the bump, finishing the day with 10 SO over 6.0 IP to earn his 2nd win in as many starts (7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 0 HR). White through 2 GS in Sept.: 2-0, 1.64 ERA (2 ER/11.0 IP), 22 SO/2 BB, .220 opp. BA. DH Cody Freeman (3-for-4, RBI) led all batters with 3 hits, including a double. RF Aaron Zavala (1-for-4, RBI) put the Woodies in front with a solo HR in the 3rd inning, the 1st homer of his professional career. Zavala has batted .324 (12-37) with 5 XBH (HR, 4 2B, and 7 BB/8 SO in his first 10 G at the Low-A level following a promotion from the ACL Rangers (Rookie) earlier this month. 3B Thomas Saggese (2-for-3, 2B, RBI, BB) and C Randy Florentino (1-for-4, RBI) also homered, their 10th and 3rd blasts of the season, respectively.

 

ACL RANGERS – OFF DAY

Arizona Complex League West (29-25, T-2nd, -9.5 GB)

Today’s Probable Starter: RHP Jose Corniell

The ACL Rangers enjoyed a scheduled off day yesterday, but will return to action tonight against the ACL Reds in Surprise.
