Today’s Probable Starter: RHP Chase Anderson

The Express beat the Oklahoma City Dodgers 7-3 on Friday night, and they lead the series 2-games-to-none. Starting RHP Collin Wiles (6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R-ER, 0 BB, 5 SO, 1 HR, 22 BF) was solid through 6.0 innings, securing the win. 3B Josh Jung (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, R) extended his hit streak to 5 G, as he is batting .294/.400/.608/1.008 (15-51) w/ 4 HR ,4 2B, 8 RBI over 13 G in September. Jung for the year spanning 65 G w/ Frisco and Round Rock: .303/.373/.567/.940 (77-254), 16 HR, 17 2B, 51 RBI. 2B Charles Leblanc (2-for-4, 2 R) posted a game-high 2 doubles and added an RBI. RHP Blake Bass whiffed his only BF to finish the game for his first save of the season (0.1 IP, 1 SO, 1 BF).).

 

FRISCO ROUGHRIDERS – L, 6-1 AT AMARILLO

Today’s Probable Starter: RHP Ronny Henriquez

Frisco dropped a 6-1 game last night against the Sod Poodles, but club still has a half-game lead for the league’s second playoff spot with 2 games remaining in the regular season. Club is seeking first playoff berth since 2014. RHP Tim Brennan (4.0 IP, 4 H, 4 R-ER, 4 BB, 1 SO, 1 HR) was charged with the loss. LF Josh Stowers (2-for-3, 3B, R) collected the lone multi-hit contest with a XBH while 2B Jax Biggers picked up Frisco’s only run, and RF Bubba Thompson recorded his 8th triple of the season. Reliever RHP Alex Speas (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 SO, 4 BF) posted his 2nd straight scoreless outing. Amarillo quieted the RoughRiders offense, had just one run on 5 hits for the night.

HICKORY CRAWDADS – W, 7-1 AT ROME

Today’s Probable Starter: RHP Ben Anderson

Hickory snapped its franchise-record 16-G losing streak with a 7-1 win at Rome, club’s 1st win since Aug. 27. CF Jonathan Ornelas went 3-for-4 with a HR, 3B, 3 RBI, and BB out of the leadoff spot. His 8 HR this season are a career best. LHP Avery Weems earned his 4th win (5.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 4 SO) and was followed by scoreless relief outings by RHP Justin Marsden (2.0 IP) and RHP Nick Starr (2.0 IP)

 

DOWN EAST WOOD DUCKS – W, 4-2 VS. CHARLESTON

Low-A East, Central Division (71-47, 1st, +4.0 GA)

Today’s Probable Starter: RHP Nick Krauth

Down East beat Charleston on Friday night to move ahead of Salem (70-48) for the 2nd and final playoff spot with 2 G to play. RHP Mason Englert picked the perfect time for his best start of the season (6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 SO). 1B Cristian Inoa (2-for-3, BB, 2 R) and DH Thomas Saggese (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI) led the way on offense. Saggese notched a clutch 2-run double in the 8th to break a 2-2 tie. CF Jayce Easley swiped his minor league-leading 70th stolen base of the campaign.

 

ACL RANGERS – W, 4-0 VS ACL WHITE SOX

Arizona Complex League West (30-28, 3rd, -10.5 GB)

Today’s Probable Starter: RHP Winston Santos

The Rookie Rangers shut out the Rookie White Sox 4-0 on Friday night. Club improved to 30-28 and ensured themselves a winning 2021 record heading into today’s season finale. RHP Josh Gessner, a mid-season trade acquisition from PHI, posted one of the best starts by a Texas farmhand in 2021 (7.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 11 SO). Only hit allowed was a single, and the 11 strikeouts set a new career best. Gessner went 2-2 with a 3.95 ERA in 7 G/5 GS w/ TEX after the trade, with 46 strikeouts in 27.1 IP. C Ian Moller paced the offense, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBI including a 2-run homer in the 3rd. The 2021 draft pick has 3 HR and 9 RBI thru 15 G in his first pro action.
