IRVING, Texas — The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced the 176 semifinalists for the prestigious 2021 William V. Campbell Trophy ® which for the past 31 years has been awarded to college football’s premier scholar-athlete. Among the 176 semifinalists and 15 representatives from Division II football-playing institutions is Southern Arkansas senior quarterback Hayden Mallory. Mallory, now a two-time William V. Campbell Trophy ® semifinalist after receiving the honor in 2020, is among 105 nominees who have already earned their bachelor’s degrees.

A May 2021 graduate with a 3.26 GPA in Business Administration: Marketing-Retail, Mallory is one of two representatives from the Great American Conference joining Harding’s Dylan Hendricks.

In his second season as the starting quarterback for SAU, the Gonzalez, Louisiana, native has thrown for 1,084 yards on 90-of-140 passing through four games in 2021. He has connected on a dozen touchdown passes and owns a quarterback efficiency rating of 150.5; which ranks third in the GAC. He also currently ranks third in the league in attempts and competitions, while his 13 total offensive touchdowns are tied for the second-most in the league through four weeks.

In the locker room, Mallory is a member of the program’s leadership council and off the field he serves on Mulerider Athletics’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in addition to participating in the department’s “Muleriders in Magnolia” community service initiative.
