Gas prices in the Texarkana area haven’t seen any change over the past week.
According to the latest information from AAA Texas, the average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Texarkana is $2.89, the same as it was this same time a week ago. The prices are the fourth-highest in Texas. Only Odessa ($2.98), Midland ($2.96), and El Paso ($2.95) have higher gas prices than Texarkana.
The lowest gas prices in Texas are in Victoria with a $2.73 price per gallon on average.
This same time a year ago, the average price of gas in Texas was $1.86 with a $1.91 price average in Texarkana.
The latest information from the Energy Information Administration says that the nation’s gasoline demand number increased week-to-week back above nine million barrels per day and remains elevated from this same time in 2020. Weekly regional fuel supply numbers increased slightly, and Gulf Coast refinery utilization registered up from the week prior. Drivers could see prices rise as crude oil prices are also rising.
“Crude oil prices have been increasing as demand for fuel products have been on the rise and production is recovering in the Gulf after two tropical systems,” said AAA Texas spokesperson Daniel Armbruster. “While volume for all modes of travel are above 2020 levels, road trips will be the main mode of travel for most Texans this fall.”
Mississippi and Texas are tied for the lowest gas prices in the nation at $2.82 on average. Arkansas is third with $2.84. Missouri is No. 4 at $2.85, and Oklahoma and Alabama are tied for fifth at $2.87.
