The Texas High Tigers improved their undefeated streak to start the season with a 27-12 victory over the Marshall Mavericks Friday night at Tiger Stadium at Grim Park.

Texas High moves to 6-0 on the season with a 3-0 mark in district play.

Running back Braylon Stewart generated 124 yards an a touchdown as part of the Tigers’ 172 yards overall. Marshall was able to move the ball a little bit better with 274 yards of total offense, 19 of those coming on the ground.

What led the Tigers’ victory campaign were the seven takeaways, five of them procured from the Mavericks’ passing game. Tyriq Robinson led the way with two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.


Marshall falls to 3-3 with a 1-2 record in district play.

Texas High goes on the road to play Pine Tree next Friday night.
