The Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks were defeated in their district opener Tuesday at Paris. The Paris Lady Wildcats topped the Lady Hawks 63-37.
The Lady Hawks came out strong on D and kept things close, trailing by just 9 at half time. The speed and shooting of the Lady WildCats finally wore down the Hawks to defeat the Lady Hawks.
Emma Henard was the Hawks Exceed Healthcare player of the game, with team high 12 points on 3, 3 pointers
The Lady Hawks head coach said they didn’t quit
“We played hard and didn’t quit,” Codi Davidson, Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks head coach said.”The first half we definitely gave Paris a run for their money. We went into halftime down 9 points which was pretty good.”
Coach Davidson said her Lady Hawks were being aggressive and drawing fouls. However, the coach said the PG girls weren’t making their free throws which made it even more difficult to win a ball game.
“Paris is a quick, athletic team, but I think we did pretty well,” Coach Davidson said. “We created shots for ourselves but some of them just weren’t falling.”
Coach Davidson hopes her girls come out fighting and play this hard against everyone in district.
The Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks girls basketball team will return to the hardwood at Pittsburg Friday night. The PG at Pittsburg game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Texarkana 97.1 FM and 1400 AM.
