TEXARKANA — Tuesday night’s matchup was a close one, but with a minute into the third quarter, everything went the way of the Liberty-Eylau Lady Leopards, who downed the Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks 73-40.

The athleticism, speed and D1 Sam Houston commit Briana Block took over on the Lady Leopards’ way victory in the district opener.

Block had a game high 27 points. She seemed to be able to take over the game when they needed her to, until the rest of Liberty-Eylau heated up.

The Lady Hawks did a great job defensively in the first half trailing just 27-22 at halftime. Foul trouble and lack of offensive rebounding lead to the downfall of Pleasant Grove in this district matchup.

Another bright spot for the Lady Hawks was Diaper Dandy. Freshman Kenasia Henry she led the Lady Hawks with 13 points, and is the Hawks Exceed Healthcare Player of the Game. She hit two 3’s and was 5-8 from the free throw line. This is three consecutive games that she has led the Hawks in scoring.

Other scoring for the Lady Hawks was Autumn Crouch with 10, Emma Crabtree with 4 and fellow freshman Reese Gibbs with four as well.
