TEXARKANA — Texarkana gas prices saw a rise of three cents over the past week.
According to new data from AAA Texas, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the Texarkana area rose three cents from $2.98 to $3.01, representing the fifth-highest gas prices in the state. Only El Paso ($3.07), Midland ($3.06), Odessa ($3.05), and Abilene ($3.04) had higher totals than the Texarkana gas prices.
The cheapest prices can be found in Victoria and Corpus Christi where motorists are paying $2.82 per gallon on average, tied for the lowest in the state.
The Energy Information Administration’s latest data shows that the country’s gasoline demand number decreased week-to-week by around three percent and remains elevated from this time last year. Although demand is down, the crude oil market het been optimistic that gas and fuel demand will be strong moving into the first part of 2022.

“Texas continues to have the cheapest gas price average of any state in the country,” said AAA Texas spokesperson Daniel Armbruster. “However, market optimism for crude and gasoline demand has been increasing the price of crude oil, which may lead to higher pump prices soon.”
Texas and Arkansas are tied for the lowest gas prices on average at $2.92. Oklahoma and Mississippi are tied for the third-cheapest gas at $2.94.
