Rangers

The Rangers were shut out by the Brewers on Saturday afternoon in Surprise, 11-0.

Texas was limited to just three singles in the defeat, with the first coming off the bat of Adolis García in the 4th inning. Mitch Garver started at designated hitter in his Texas spring training debut after being acquired in a trade with the Twins last weekend.

The Brewers jumped out to an early lead, scoring twice in the 1st inning off Texas starter Dane Dunning, who made his spring debut. The visitors plated an additional pair of runs off Joe Barlow in the 2nd inning. Relievers Spencer Patton (1 R) and Nick Tropeano (5 R) were charged with a total of 6 unearned runs after a trio of errors by Rangers defenders undid the work of the hurlers.

Tomorrow is the lone open date on the Rangers’ Cactus League slate, though the team is scheduled to play an intrasquad game on Nolan Ryan Field 1 at 11 a.m. AZ time. The Rangers return to Cactus League action on Monday at Cleveland in Goodyear, with Texas LHP Taylor Hearn slated to start against Cleveland LHP Logan Allen at 3:05 p.m. CT. That contest will be broadcast on Bally Sports Southwest Extra (opponents TV broadcast to be carried) and texasrangers.com (audio webcast).
