The Rangers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 4-1, at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, Texas improves to 2-1-1 in Cactus League play, earning two straight victories after opening the spring slate with a tie and a loss.
Texas scored the game’s first three runs in the top of the second inning, as Nick Solak (solo) and Eli White (two-run) each connected for their first home runs of the exhibition season. The Rangers ended the frame by stranding a pair of baserunners in Marcus Semien (double) and Corey Seager (walk), who started and played four innings at second base and shortstop.
Starter Kolby Allard retired all six batters he faced over 2.0 scoreless innings in his 2022 Cactus League ‘A’ game debut. A.J. Alexy (2.0 IP) and Brock Burke (2.0 IP) were also scoreless in their first official outings of the spring, with Burke recording a game-high three strikeouts. Ricky Vanasco set down three straight in the ninth inning to earn the save.
Davis Wendzel, who has appeared in all four of Texas’ Cactus League games thus far, doubled to left field in his lone plate appearance after entering as a defensive replacement at third base. Matt Carpenter went 0-for-2 with a ground out and fly out as a defensive replacement at first base in his first official game action of the spring.

After playing two straight on the road, the Rangers will return to Surprise tomorrow for a meeting with the Chicago White Sox at 3:05 p.m. CT. Texas is scheduled to start RHP Glenn Otto against Chicago-AL RHP Lance Lynn.
