TEXARKANA — The Texas High Tigers had no trouble with the Marshall Mavericks 10-3 Tuesday evening at Texas High.

Nathan Steele was dominant on the mound as he went 7.0 innings and gave up seven hits, three runs, a walk, and recorded 11 strikeouts.

Steele also contributed at the plate, going 2-4 with a single, double, two RBI, a walk, and a strikeout.

Jacob Yowell was 3-4 at the plate with two singles and a triple along with an RBI. Yowell also scored two runs and had a walk.

Luke Smith was 1-3 with a single, two runs, and a walk. Jacob McGuire scored three runs for the Tigers.

Jordan Crouch was 2-4 with two singles. Brendan Alred was 0-1 with a run scored.

Knox Pilgreeen was 0-1 with a run scored. Cody Reese was 1-4 with a single and an RBI.

Sawyer Pritchard was 0-1 with a run scored. Robert Cheney was 1-4 with a double.

Nate Mennie was 2-5 with a single, double, and four RBI.

Dalton Raley was 2-3 with two singles, two RBI, a run scored, and a walk.

“We played well in all three phases of the game,” coach Johnny McClure said. “We finished up Round 1 at 5-1, tied for 1st place.”
