Texarkana gas prices

Texarkana gas prices saw an increase over the past week as seasonal domestic gasoline demands are right around the corner.

According to new information from AAA Texas, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline climbed from $3.73 to $3.79 in the Texarkana area, tied with Abilene, Galveston-Texas City for the fifth-highest gas prices in the state. Only El Paso ($3.99), Bryan-College Station ($3.82), Fort Worth-Arlington ($3.82), and Dallas ($3.82) were higher than the Texarkana gas prices.

The cheapest prices could be found in Corpus Christi where motorists pay $3.61 per gallon — more than $2.08 less than the state of California’s average price of gas.

The war in Ukraine continues to disrupt supply as less Russian oil enters the market, and thus crude oil prices have creeped up beyond $100 a barrel. The United States’ demand has also slowly been rising over the past few weeks as summer driving season is nigh.

“As the days get longer, the weather gets warmer, and pump prices dip from their record highs, consumers feel more confident about hitting the road,” said AAA Texas spokesperson Daniel Armbruster. “And AAA is anticipating strong demand in the coming weeks as bookings for Memorial Day travel are already much higher than what they were last year.”

Georgia had the cheapest gas prices in the country at $3.72. Arkansas is second at $3.74. Missouri and Ohio are tied for third at $3.76. Texas is fifth at $3.77.
