
AUSTIN, Texas — No. 10 Texas Baseball cruised to the series win against Baylor 13-4 on Saturday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The Longhorns (29-13, 8-6), who hit four two run homers, will go for the series sweep of the Bears on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Tristan Stevens pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed four runs on eight hits. Stevens issued only one walk, struck out seven batters and picked up his fifth win of the season.
Trey Faltine went 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored, while Douglas Hodo III went 3-for-4 with one homer, four RBI, and two runs. Ivan Melendez and Silas Ardoin also had home runs, bringing in a combination of four RBI.
Baylor opened the game with two runs scored in the second. Hodo cut into the Bears lead with a sacrifice fly to score Skyler Messinger to make the score 2-1.
After a solo homer gave Baylor a 3-1 lead, Skyler Messinger hit another sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 3-2.
Texas then grabbed its first lead of the day, scoring four runs on five hits in the fourth inning. Mitchell Daly began the inning with a double and advanced to third on a single by Trey Faltine. Hodo drove in Daly with an RBI single for the first run of the inning. Austin Todd then legged out a bunt single before an error allowed Faltine to score.
Melendez capped off the inning with a two-run homer, his 19th of the season, to make the Longhorns lead 6-3.
Faltine extended the lead further with another two-run homer in the fifth inning. Baylor scored its only other run of the game with another solo homer in the sixth, but Texas answered quickly.

Murphy Stehly had his first hit of the game doubling to left in the bottom of the sixth, and was then brought home with a two-run homer run by Ardoin.
Hodo hit the fourth two-run homer of the day in the seventh before Messinger finished the scoring with an RBI single to make the score 13-4.
Reliever Luke Harrison got the Longhorns out of a jam in the seventh, and Lebarron Johnson Jr. and Daniel Blair pitched scoreless innings to close out the win.
