TEXARKANA — Nathan Steele went 5.0 innings and struck out seven as the Texas High Tigers beat the Marshall Mavericks 5-1 to secure the No. 2 seed Friday night.

Steele gave up four hits, a run (one earned), and two walks. Steele was also 1-3 at the plate.

Luke Smith went 2.0 innings on the mount as he gave up one hit and struck out three. Smith was also 1-3 with a triple, a walk, and a run scored.

Highland Park

Jacob Yowell was 3-4 with three singles, an RBI, and a run scored.

Robert Cheney was 2-3 with two singles and a run scored.

“Solid performance all the way around,” coach Johnny McClure said. “Looking forward to a successful playoff run.”

The Tigers will play Whitehouse in the first round. Details to follow.
