AUSTIN, Texas – No. 10 Baseball lost 10-8 to No. 8 Oklahoma State in the series finale at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Sunday.

The Longhorns (31-16, 9-9) will be back in action at home against Houston Baptist on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

The Longhorns jumped out to a 7-0 lead before things turned in the seventh, with the Cowboys scoring 10 runs to jump in front.

Texas squandered a great start by Lucas Gordon, who pitched six innings and allowed just two runs on three hits. Gordon struck out a career-high 11 batters, and retired 13 straight batters between the second and sixth innings.

Douglas Hodo III went 2-for-4 with two doubles, while Skyler Messigner was 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Hodo put a run on the board for the Longhorns in the first inning with a double before later scoring on a balk.

Texas added four more runs to the score in the second inning to go up 5-0. Silas Ardoin, Skyler Messinger and Dylan Campbell hit three-consecutive home runs for the first three runs of the inning. Hodo then doubled and was driven in on an RBI single by Ivan Melendez.

Two more runs came home in the fifth to make the score 7-0. Austin Todd hit a triple and scored on a passed ball before a sacrifice fly by Messinger drove in the seventh run.

Oklahoma State scored 10 runs in the seventh, taking advantage of seven free passes given up by Texas pitchers.

Trey Faltine hit a solo homer in the eighth inning to cut the lead to 10-8.
