TEXARKANA — The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department says they have arrested a 38-year-old man and charged him with murder in connection with the homicide of a two and a half month old infant.
TAPD arrested Jeffrey McPherson of Texarkana, Arkansas, on May 31 at around 5:00 p.m. and charged him with murder in the first degree and tampering with physical evidence.
According to police, officers were dispatched to Wadley Hospital at around 5:58 a.m. on May 25 due to deceased two and half-month-old male child.
TAPD says that officers spoke with the caretaker of the child — McPherson — and detectives were later notified and arrived at the scene.
McPherson was taken to the Bi-State Center and interviewed while the child’s body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for an autopsy. The results were delivered on May 27 and the death was ruled a homicide.
Police arrested McPherson based on evidence and statements, according to TAPD.
McPherson was transported to the Miller County Jail, where he was booked and awaiting his first appearance in court.
