
ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced the following roster moves ahead of Monday night’s series opener against Oakland:
- C Sam Huff and LHP Kolby Allard recalled from Round Rock (AAA)
- C/DH Mitch Garver placed on 60-day Injured List for right forearm flexor tendon repair surgery
- RHP Dane Dunning placed on 15-day Injured List with right ankle impingement
Huff has batted .282 with one home run and 5 RBI over 27 games spanning two stints with Texas this season: April 28-May 1 and May 10-June 20. He has also batted .270/.355/.607/.962 (33-122) with a team-high 13 HR and 25 RBI over 32 games with Round Rock in 2022. His 13 home runs are tied for second-most among Texas minor leaguers, trailing only Dustin Harris (14). Huff posted 6 home runs and 10 RBI over 13 games during his most recent minor league stint, including 2 home runs and 4 RBI in his last game on Friday vs. Albuquerque.

Allard has gone 0-2 with a 5.06 ERA (9 ER/16.0 IP) and one save in 7 relief outings over four stints with the Rangers in 2022: Opening Day-April 30, May 11, June 3-15, and July 6-9. He had been optioned on Sunday after not making an appearance during his most recent MLB stint. The left-hander has spent the balance of the season at Triple-A, going 1-1 with a 4.21 ERA (12 ER/25.2 IP) and 11 walks/33 strikeouts in 7 games/starts.
Garver has batted .207 with 10 home runs and 24 RBI over 54 games with Texas in 2022, his first season with the club. He was previously on the 10-day Injured List from May 9-18 with a right forearm flexor muscle strain. Garver has not thrown since the injury and was only available as a hitter since his return from the Injured List.
Dunning has gone 1-6 with a 4.42 ERA (47 ER/95.2 IP) over 18 games/starts for the Rangers in 2022, ranking among staff leaders in starts (1st), innings (2nd), and strikeouts (3rd, 84).
Following today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the Major League roster, along with two players (Jonathan Hernández and Eli White) on the 60-day Injured List.
