
TEXARKANA — A record field of 254 golfers (74 women) teed off Wednesday in the All Pro Tour Children’s Charity Open at Texarkana Country Club and Northridge Country Club.
Thomas Johnson of Norman, Okla., and Joey Kron of Scottsdale, Ariz. both shot 7-under-par 74 at Northridge for the early lead. Tied for third place at 66 are Mason Horner of Argyle, Texas, Brad Dalke of Edmond, Okla., Tyson Reeder of Edmond, Okla., and Chris Korte of Littleton, Co.
Texarkana’s Sean Romero and Garrett May are in position to make Thursday’s second round cut after posting 70 at Northridge. Carter Maneth recorded a 1-0ver-par 71 at TCC. Par at some holes were changed for the pros. On the front the second and seventh holes are playing as par 4s. The eighth hole is a par 3, and the ninth hole is a par 5.
Allen native leads women’s record field
The early leader in the women’s division is Jordy LaBarbera of Allen, Texas. She past a 4-under-par 67 at TCC. Graci Rose Henard post a 77 at Northridge. Play in the women’s division was suspended because of darkness.
The final two rounds will be played at Texarkana County Club on Friday and Saturday.
