ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced the following roster moves prior to Tuesday night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles:
- Right-handed pitcher Jon Gray placed on 15-day Injured List with a left oblique strain.
- Left-handed pitcher Taylor Hearn recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.
- Right-handed pitcher Josh Sborz recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.
Gray was forced to exit Monday night’s start against the Orioles with a 1-2 count on Baltimore’s Anthony Santander in the top of the 2nd inning due to injury. The Rangers will place Gray on the IL.
He has a 7-6 record with a 3.83 ERA over 19 games/starts for the Rangers this season, posting 116 strikeouts against 34 walks. He ranks among American League leaders in strikeouts per 9 innings (6th, 10.10), opponent slugging percentage (9th, .363), and opponent batting average (10th, .224).
Hearn has gone 4-6 with a 5.50 ERA over 16 games/13 starts spanning two stints with the Rangers this season: Opening Day-June 25 and July 15-25. Each of his last 3 outings with Texas beginning June 25 have come in relief, posting a 1.59 ERA (4 R-2 ER/11.1 IP) in that span with 5 walks and 11 strikeouts. His last outing for the Rangers came on July 23 at Oakland (3.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R-ER, 60 pitches). He also has a 1-0 record and 4.50 ERA (8 ER/12.0 IP) over 3 games/2 starts for Round Rock in 2022, with his last appearance on Sunday vs. Sacramento.

The Rangers entered the day with one open spot on the active 26-man roster following the trade of right-handed pitcher Matt Bush to the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday night.
Following today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with two players (Mitch Garver and Eli White) on the 60-day Injured List.
MILLER REHAB TRANSFERRED TO FRISCO: Infielder/outfielder Brad Miller has had his injury rehabilitation assignment transferred from Round Rock (AAA) to Frisco (AA). Miller is scheduled to start tonight’s 7:05 p.m. CT game for the RoughRiders against Amarillo in Frisco.
