TEXARKANA — The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office says that the Saturday suspect who allegedly fatally shot his in-laws near Hooks and stole a vehicle in Horatio, Arkansas, committed suicide after shooting a Bowie County deputy.
Hector Alejandro Pintor Aguilar was found dead inside a residence near Roy Road near Leary.
According to the sheriff’s office, after Aguilar stole a vehicle at gunpoint in Sevier County, Arkansas, Saturday, he returned to Bowie County and was stopped at around 10:36 p.m. near the intersection of U.S.-59 and South Kings Highway. A Bowie County sheriff’s deputy approached the vehicle from the passenger side and was shot in the face, according to the sheriff’s office.
Aguilar abandoned the stolen vehicle at the intersection of Spur 76 and U.S.-82 near Hooks, where he stole another vehicle at gunpoint.
A posse of law enforcement was able to locate Aguilar and the newly stolen vehicle in the wood line off Interstate 30 eastbound. As it was believed Aguilar had fled on foot, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Telford Unit provided tracking dogs, which were able to track Aguilar to a vacant residence on Roy Road (County Road 2206).
Tactical Units from Texarkana Texas Police Department, Texarkana Arkansas Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety set up a perimeter and eventually located Aguilar within the home using a tactical robot, where they discovered Aguilar did not respond to any audio or visual stimuli, indicating he might be deceased.
When law enforcement entered the home, they discovered Aguilar was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Justice of the Peace Nancy Talley ordered the autopsy of Aguilar.

Here are the law enforcement and emergency agencies that assisted the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office in the pursuit of Aguilar:
