TEXARKANA — The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office says that one of their deputies has lost the use of his left eye following an encounter with a now-deceased murder suspect who shot the deputy in the eye Sunday.
Lt. Scott Lillis lost use of his left eye and has has bone fractures near the injury site, according to the sheriff’s office. Corrective surgery is scheduled for a later date. Except for the loss of his left side vision, he is expected to make a full recovery, the sheriff’s office says.
The sheriff’s office says that prayers for Lt. Lillis are “appreciated” and that the support from the community has been “overwhelming.”
