TEXAS RANGERS MINOR LEAGUE REPORT TUESDAY, AUGUST 16, 2022

ORGANIZATIONAL RECORD: 312-276 (.531), 6th-best in MLB

ROUND ROCK EXPRESS – OFF DAY

Triple-A, Pacific Coast League (59-52, 3rd, 5.0 GB)

Round Rock went 4-2 last week, winning their series against the Oklahoma City Dodgers in OKC. IF Josh Jung went 7-20 (.350) with 3 2B, 2 HR, and RBI in his first five games back with the Express this season. Fellow IF Mark Mathias had the highest batting average among any player who played last week. He hit .400 (8-20) with 2 2B, HR, and 4 RBI in five games played. The Express will return home this week for a six-game homestand against El Paso, with the first pitch being scheduled for 7:05 p.m. tonight.

 

FRISCO ROUGHRIDERS – OFF DAY

Double-A, Texas League (58-50, 1st, 1.0 GA)

Frisco lost 4 of 6 at home to San Antonio last week. IF Justin Foscue continues his impressive August as he hit 7-18 (.389) with a 2B, HR, and 5 RBI in last week’s series. Since July 1, Foscue is slashing .328/.392/.539/.931 with 9 2B, 6 HR, and 31 RBI, the most RBI by any RoughRider in that span. LHP Cody Bradford also had himself a nice start during this past week as he tossed seven shutout innings, giving up three hits and striking out nine. His seven innings pitched were a season high. Frisco will travel to Corpus Christi for a six-game set beginning tonight at 6:35 p.m.

 

HICKORY CRAWDADS – OFF DAY

High-A, South Atlantic League (56-52, 3rd, 11.0 GB)

Hickory are coming off a series split against at Greenville this past week. Hickory picked up their second no-hitter of the season as RHP Mason Englert (7.0 IP, 0 H, 2 BB, 6 SO) and RHP Theo McDowell (2.0 IP, 0 H, BB, 2 SO) combined for the no-hitter. OF Evan Carter had the best week at the plate of any Crawdad. Carter went 9-for-25 (.360) with 2 2B, HR, 4 RBI, and 5 BB in the series. Carter’s slash line is now .282/.377/.477/.854 for the season.

Hickory, the Texas Rangers’ High-A affiliate, will return home for a six-game series against Winston-Salem beginning tonight at 6:00 p.m.

DOWN EAST WOOD DUCKS – OFF DAY

Low-A, Carolina League (55-53, 4th, 4.5 GB)

The Wood Ducks took 5 out of 6 from Fayetteville last week as they have now won 8 of their last 11 G. C Ian Moller and IF Miguel Villarroel each had standout series for the team. In 4 G played last week, Moller slashed .467/.529/1.000/1.529 with 2 2B, 2 HR, and 5 RBI. Meanwhile, Villarroel played in all 6 G and went 7-for-21 (.333) with a 2B and 5 RBI. Down East will look to keep their four-game win streak alive tonight as they get set to begin a six-game series against Myrtle Beach. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

 

ACL RANGERS – L, 11-10 VS ACL WHITE SOX

Arizona Complex League West (31-18, 1st, 5.0 GA)

The ACL Rangers lost a high-scoring affair to the ACL White Sox, 11-10, on Monday night. 1B Josh Hatcher went 1 for-5 with a BB and R scored and has now recorded a hit in 7 straight games to begin his pro ball career. LF Yeison Morrobel led the offense with a three-hit game (3-5, 2B, RBI, 3 R). C Efrenyer Narvaez (2-4 3B, RBI, BB, R) recorded his third-straight 2-hit game, a season-high. LHP Bryan Magdaleno tossed 2.1 innings of relief, allowing one hit and striking out four. The Rangers will look to bounce back tonight at 8:00 p.m. when they take on the ACL Padres.
