TEXAS RANGERS MINOR LEAGUE REPORT MONDAY, AUGUST 22, 2022

ORGANIZATIONAL RECORD: 332-293 (.531), 6th-best in MLB

8/18 Transactions: Yohel Pozo reinstated from Temporary Inactive List (Round Rock). Dane Acker transferred from Arizona to Hickory.

 

ROUND ROCK EXPRESS – L, 2-1 VS EL PASO

Triple-A, Pacific Coast League (62-55, 3rd, 5.0 GB)

Round Rock fell to EL Paso, 2-1 in the series finale between the two teams. RHP Dennis Santana made his second rehab appearance for the Express, striking out two in two innings pitched. RHP Ryder Ryan also had a good relief outing, striking out four in two innings pitched. 3B Josh Jung extended his hitting streak to 14 G after a 1-for-4 performance. 1B Nick Tanielu (1-4, RBI) recorded the team’s only RBI after driving in RF Josh Sale (1-3, BB, R) on an RBI single in the 2nd inning.

 

FRISCO ROUGHRIDERS – CANCELLED

Double-A, Texas League (60-53, 1st, 0.5 GA)

Frisco’s game at Corpus Christi yesterday was cancelled due to unplayable field conditions. The ‘Riders finished the series 2-3 against the Hooks and currently have a 0.5 game lead in the TEX South division.

Frisco, the Texas Rangers’ Double-A affiliate, will return to action on Tuesday at home against the Wichita Wind Surge.

HICKORY CRAWDADS – L, 10-8 VS WINSTON-SALEM

High-A, South Atlantic League (61-53, 3rd, 8.0 GB)

7 of the 9 hitters in Hickory’s lineup recorded at least a hit in Sunday’s game with 4 of those hitters recording multi hit games. SS Chris Seise led all hitters in the game with a 3-hit performance (3-4, BB, 2 R). 2B Keyber Rodriguez (2-4, 3B, 2 RBI, R) and C Konner Piotto (2-5, 2B, 3 RBI, R) combined for 5 of the team’s 8 RBI’s. DH Thomas Saggese extended his hitting streak to 5 G after a 2-for-5 performance with a 2B and 2 R scored. RHP Dane Acker made his first start since being promoted from the ACL Rangers (3.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R-ER, 2 BB).

 

DOWN EAST WOOD DUCKS – L, 71 VS MYRTLE BEACH

Low-A, Carolina League (59-55, 4th, 3.5 GB)

Down East fell to Myrtle Beach, 7-1, in yesterday’s series finale. 2B Junior Paniagua smashed a solo-home run to score the team’s only run of the game. 3B Miguel Villarroel (2-4) had a multi-hit game to extend his hitting streak to 9 G. During that span, Villarroel is hitting 16-34 (.471), with a 2B and 13 RBI. LF Zion Bannister also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for02 with a 2B, and a BB. Starter RHP Ryan Garcia picked up his second loss of the season (4.2 IP, 7 H, 4 R-3 ER, BB, 5 SO, HR).

 

ACL RANGERS – OFF DAY

Arizona Complex League West (32-20, 1st, 3.0 GA)

The ACL Rangers had an off day yesterday. The Rangers clinched the division title with two games left in their season after a win on Saturday. They are currently setup to face the ACL Reds in a one-game semi-final before playing in a three-game league final if they advance. The ACL Rangers will take on the ACL Guardians tonight at 8:00 p.m.
