ROUND ROCK EXPRESS – OFF DAY
Triple-A, Pacific Coast League (62-55, 3rd, 5.0 GB)
Round Rock had an off day yesterday. The Express are coming off a series split with El Paso where they took 2 of the last 3 games to finish the series. Josh Jung led the team in hitting during the series as he slashed .429/.455/.952/1.407 with 2 2B, 3 HR, and 11 RBI over the course of the week. Disobel Arias also had himself a solid week as he slashed .353/.389/.588/.977 with a 2B, HR, and 4 RBI in 5 games last week. The Express will begin a six-game set at Albuquerque tonight with first pitch scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
FRISCO ROUGHRIDERS – OFF DAY
Double-A, Texas League (60-53, 1st, 0.5 GA)
Frisco are coming off a series lost against Corpus Christi (2-3) this past week. Josh Stowers had himself a nice week at the plate going 5-13, (.385) with a 2B, HR, and 2 RBI in 4 games played. LHP Cody Bradford had one of his best starts of the season after he tossed 5.2 innings, allowing 1 R-ER on 4 H, with a BB and 7 SO.
Frisco, the Texas Rangers’ Double-A affiliate, returns home tonight at 7:05 p.m. to begin a six-game series with Wichita.
HICKORY CRAWDADS – OFF DAY
High-A, South Atlantic League (61-53, 3rd, 8.0 GB)
Hickory took 5 of 6 from Winston-Salem last week as they won their first series for the first time in the last 3 weeks. Hickory had 3 hitters hit over .400 (min. 4 G) last week. Chris Seise led the team with a .526 batting average (2 2B, HR, 4 RBI), Cristian Inoa slashed .471/.591/.765/1.356 with 4 XBH and 5 RBI, and Evan Carter went 6-19 (.462) with a HR and 5 RBI in 4 games played last week. The ‘Dads will take on the Hudson Valley Renegades tonight at 6:05 p.m. to kick off a 12-game road trip.
DOWN EAST WOOD DUCKS – OFF DAY
Low-A, Carolina League (59-55, 4th, 3.5 GB)
Down East won 4 of 6 at home against Myrtle Beach last week. Abimelec Ortiz went 8-for-14 (.571) with a 3B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, and a 1.790 OPS in 5 games played last week. Miguel Villarrel recorded 9 hits (all singles) and a team-high 8 RBI as he slashed .474/.545/.474/1.019 over the course of the week. The Woodies will travel to Fredericksburg to begin a six-game set beginning tonight at 6:05 p.m.
ACL RANGERS – L, 8-6 AT ACL GUARDIANS
Arizona Complex League West (32-21, 1st, 3.0 GA)
The ACL Rangers fell to the ACL Guardians, 8-6, last night in Arizona. The Rangers’ first four hitters combined for 7 of the team’s 9 hits in the game. CF Frandy Almonte went 2-for-3 with an RBI, 2 BB, and 3 R scored as the leadoff man. C Efrenyer Narvaez (2-5, RBI, R) and RF Ismael Padua (2-3, 3B, RBI, 2 BB) both collected multi-hit games for the Rangers. Reliever RHP Jose Viola was a bright spot out of the pen as he tossed two hitless innings along with three strikeouts. The ACL Rangers will play their regular season finale today against the ACL Royals at 11:00 a.m.
