TEXAS RANGERS MINOR LEAGUE REPORT WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24, 2022

ORGANIZATIONAL RECORD: 337-298 (.531), 6th-best in MLB

8/23 Transactions: Joshua Hatcher transferred from Arizona to Hickory. Damian Mendoza transferred from Hickory to Down East

ROUND ROCK EXPRESS – L, 8-5 AT ALBUQUERQUE

Triple-A, Pacific Coast League (62-56, 3rd, 5.0 GB)

Round Rock allowed eight unanswered runs in last night’s 8-5 loss at Albuquerque. Starter LHP Kolby Allard suffered the loss after 4.0 IP outing that saw 7 R-6 ER cross the plate, on 8 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. 3B Josh Jung failed to record a hit (0-4, R, BB) snapping his 14-game hitting streak. SS Davis Wendzel (2-3, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, R) had the team’s only multi-hit game. Round Rock will look to bounce back tonight at 7:35 p.m.

 

FRISCO ROUGHRIDERS – W, 4-3 VS WICHITA

Double-A, Texas League (61-53, 1st, 0.5 GA)

1B Blaine Crim played hero in last night’s victory over Wichita, as he doubled home the game-winning run in the 10th for the walk-off win. Crim finished the game 2-for-3 with a 2B, RBI, and a BB. Frisco had 8 of their 9 starters record a hit during the game led by Crim’s 2-hit performance. CF Josh Stowers had a 1-for-3 performance with a 2B, BB, and R scored. Starter LHP Antoine Kelly tossed three hitless innings, allowing one unearned run, three walks, and three punchouts. Frisco will take on Wichita in game two of their series tonight at 7:05 p.m.

 

HICKORY CRAWDADS – W, 3-2 AT HUDSON VALLEY

High-A, South Atlantic League (62-53, 3rd, 8.0 GB)

Hickory used a nice start from RHP Josh Stephan to secure a 3-2 victory over Hudson Valley. Stephan pitched five innings, that saw three hits, two runs (one earned), two walks, and six strikeouts. CF Alejandro Osuna led the team with two hits (2-4). He has hit safely in 15 of his last 17 G and is hitting 19-64 (.297) during that stretch. RF Angel Aponte (1-3, RBI, BB, R) and DH Chris Seise (1-4, RBI) each had an RBI.

The Crawdads, the Texas Rangers’ High-A affiliate, will look to win their 7th game in their last 8 with a win tonight (6:05 p.m.)

DOWN EAST WOOD DUCKS – L, 3-2 AT FREDERICKSBURG

Low-A, Carolina League (59-56, 4th, 4.5 GB)

The Wood Ducks fell to Fredericksburg, 3-2, in their series opener on Tuesday night. LF Yosy Galan (1-3, HR, RBI, R) hit his 17th home run of the season for the Wood Ducks. 3B Miguel Villarroel went 2-for-4 with a 2B and has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games. Starter LHP Mitch Bratt provided a quality start for the Woodies (6.0 Ip, 4 H, 2 R ER, 2 BB, 5 SO, 1 HR). Down East will return for game two of their series with Fredericksburg at 6:05 p.m. tonight.

 

ACL RANGERS – L, 5-1 AT ACL ROYALS

Arizona Complex League West (32-22, 1st, 3.0 GA)

The ACL Rangers were held to one hit in a 5-1 loss in their regular season series finale. SS Keithron Moss recorded the team’s only hit after going 1- for-2. Reliever RHP Biembenido Brito pitched 3.1 innings of relief, allowing 3 R-2 ER on 4 H, striking out 6 Royals hitters. The ACL Rangers will now face the ACL Giants Black at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday night in a one-game semifinal, with the winner facing the winner of the ACL Rockies/ACL Reds game in a best of 3 final.
