TEXAS RANGERS MINOR LEAGUE REPORT FRIDAY, AUGUST 26, 2022

ORGANIZATIONAL RECORD: 341-302 (.530), 6th-best in MLB

ROUND ROCK EXPRESS – W, 9-4 AT ALBUQUERQUE

Triple-A, Pacific Coast League (64-56, 3rd, 4.0 GB)

Round Rock took down the Isotopes, 9-4, last night in Albuquerque. C Sam Huff powered the Express offense thanks to a 3-for-5 game with a home run, RBI and two runs scored. CF Elier Hernandez (2-4,2B, RBI), 1B Yohel Pozo (2-4, HR, RBI, R) and LF Nick Solak (2-3, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, R) added two hits apiece. Solak had the lone multi RBI game with two. DH Josh Jung added a hit in five at-bats to go along with an RBI. Starter RHP Kyle Cody struck out six in three innings pitched, giving up only one hit.

 

FRISCO ROUGHRIDERS – W, 2-1 VS WICHITA

Double-A, Texas League (62-54, 1st, 0.5 GA)

Frisco rallied back for a walk-off win over the Wind Surge on Thursday night, by the final score of 2-1. Frisco starter LHP Cody Bradford tossed six innings of one-run baseball and struck out eight batters, while reliever RHP Tim Brennan threw four scoreless innings and finished with five strikeouts in the win. Bradford has tallied 30 strikeouts and allowed three walks in 23.2 IP with an ERA of 1.52 in 4 starts during the month of August. CF Kellen Strahm led the offense with a two-hit game, while DH Aaron Zavala played hero by driving in the game-winning RBI with a bases loaded walk (1-2, BB, RBI).

 

HICKORY CRAWDADS – L, 6-3 AT HUDSON VALLEY

High-A, South Atlantic League (62-55, 3rd, 9.0 GB)

Hickory lost their second-consecutive game to Hudson Valley last night after losing 6-3. Starter RHP Mason Englert had his hitless streak snapped at 15 1/3 innings after giving up a home run to leadoff the second inning. He finished the game with the final line of, 4.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R-ER, 2 BB, 5 SO, 2 HR. 3B Cody Freeman had the game’s only three hit game (3-4, RBI).

SS Frainyer Chavez tripled and scored a run in a 1-for-4 performance for Hickory, the Texas Rangers’ High-A affiliate.

DOWN EAST WOOD DUCKS – W, 6-2 AT FREDERICKSBURG

Low-A, Carolina League (60-57, 4th, 4.5 GB)

Down East used a brilliant performance from RHP Emiliano Teodo to beat Fredericksburg, 6-2 on Thursday night. Teodo tossed four hitless innings with three walks and a career-high 11 strikeouts. In his four starts in August, Teodo is 1-0, 1.53 ERA (3 ER/17.2 IP) with 35 SO and 8 BB. At the plate, CF Daniel Mateo (2-4, HR, RBI, R) and SS Cam Cauley (2-3, 2B, 2 BB, R) each recorded two-hits apiece. 1B Abimelec Ortiz also added a home run, his 11th of the season (1-2, HR, 2 RBI, BB, 2 R).

 

ACL RANGERS – L, 9-6 AT ACL GIANTS BLACK

Arizona Complex League West (32-22, 1st, 3.0 GA)

The ACL Rangers saw their season end last night with a 9-6 loss to the ACL Giants Black squad in the ACL semifinals. Starter RHP Ivan Oviedo failed to get out of the first inning after allowing 6 R-ER in 0.1 IP. CF Anthony Gutierrez (2-4, 2B, R) and RF Robert Gonzalez (2-3, RBI, BB, 2 R) combined for 4 of the 8 hits in the game for the Rangers. SS Danyer Cueva (1-5, 2 RBI, R) recorded the team’s only multi-RBI game.
