TEXAS RANGERS MINOR LEAGUE REPORT SATURDAY, AUGUST 27, 2022

ORGANIZATIONAL RECORD: 343-304 (.530), 6th-best in MLB

8/26 Transasctions: Jax Biggers placed on 7-Day IL (Frisco). Frainyer Chavez transferred from Hickory to Frisco. Griffin Cheney transferred from Arizona to Hickory.

ROUND ROCK EXPRESS – W, 10-5 AT ALBUQUERQUE

Triple-A, Pacific Coast League (65-56, 3rd, 4.0 GB)

Round Rock grabbed a Friday night win over Albuquerque by a final score of 10-5. Starter RHP Tyson Miller earned the victory after tossing 5.0 innings while allowing two runs on six hits and six strikeouts. SS Davis Wendzel (2-4, HR, 4 RBI, R) hit the Express’ third grand slam of the season. CF Josh Smith led Express lineup with a 3-for-4 night that included two doubles, a home run, three RBI, two runs scored and a walk. RF Sandro Fabian (2-4, HR, RBI, 2 R) and 1B Nick Tanielu (2-3, HR, 2 RBI, BB, 2 R) each recorded multi-hit games with a home run.

 

FRISCO ROUGHRIDERS – W, 2-1 VS WICHITA

Double-A, Texas League (63-54, 1st, 0.5 GA)

Frisco collected only two hits as they beat Wichita, 2-1, for the second consecutive game. Starter RHP Zak Kent recorded a quality start as he tied a career high with seven innings pitched (3 H, R-ER, BB, 7 SO, HR). RHP Grant Anderson picked up his 6th save of the season after striking out three in his only inning of work. SS Jonathan Ornelas (1-4, 2B, RBI) had the team’s only RBI of the game.

CF Josh Stowers recorded the only other hit after a 1-for-2 performance for the RoughRiders, the Texas Rangers’ Double-A affiliate.

HICKORY CRAWDADS – L, 5-4 AT HUDSON VALLEY

High-A, South Atlantic League (62-56, 3rd, 9.0 GB)

Hickory lost their third game in a row to Hudson Valley as they fell 5-4 on Friday night. Starter RHP T.K. Roby suffered the loss after allowing four earned runs on six hits and seven strikeouts in five innings pitched. 1B Cristian Inoa smashed two doubles in a 2-for-4 performance that included an RBI and a walk. RF Angel Aponte (2-4, R) and 2B Keyber Rodriguez (2-2, 2 BB, 2 R) both had multi-hit games for the ‘Dads. C Randy Florentino led the team with 3 RBI in a 1-for-3 performance.

 

DOWN EAST WOOD DUCKS – L, 23-8 AT FREDERICKSBURG

Low-A, Carolina League (60-58, 3rd, 5.5 GB)

Down East suffered a 23-8 loss over Fredericksburg last night. SS Cam Cauley paced the Wood Ducks offense as he went 3-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI, and two runs scored. DH Daniel Mateo (2-4, 2 R) had a 2-for-4 game for the second night in a row. 3B Miguel Vilarroel (2-5, RBI, R) recorded his eighth multi-hit game of the month, the most he has had in a month this season. Down East will look to bounce back this evening at 5:05 p.m.
