ROUND ROCK EXPRESS – W, 18-7 AT ALBUQUERQUE
Triple-A, Pacific Coast League (66-56, 3rd, 4.0 GB)
Round Rock erupted for an 18-7 victory over Albuquerque for their fourth consecutive win on Saturday night. Starter RHP AJ Alexy allowed one hit and one earned run in three innings pitched to go along with 5 strikeouts for the Express. Offensively, 8 of the 9 hitters for Round Rock recorded multi-hit games as they tallied 21 hits as a team, including a season-high 10 doubles. C Sam Huff posted his third multi-homer game of the season as he went 3- for-5 with six RBI and three runs scored. He collected his 20th home run of the year last night and has now collected 20+ home runs for the second consecutive year. Leadoff man LF Josh Smith had the team’s lone four-hit night after he went 4-for-6 with a 3B, 3 2B, 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Since being sent back down to Round Rock (8/21), Smith is hitting .450 (9-20) with 5 2B, 2 3B, 1 HR, and 8 RBI.
FRISCO ROUGHRIDERS – L, 8-6 VS WICHITA
Double-A, Texas League (63-55, 1st, 0.5 GA)
The RoughRiders fell to the Wind Surge, 8-6, on Saturday night. Starter LHP Avery Weems gave up six runs in his 2.1 innings of work. RF Aaron Zavala (2-5, R) and 2B Justin Foscue (2-4, RBI, R) each recorded two-hit games for Frisco. Meanwhile, 1B Blaine Crim (3-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 3 R), SS Luisangel Acuna (3-5, 2B), and C David Garcia (3-4, RBI) all tallied three-hit games.
Acuna’s three hits tied a season-high since being with Frisco, the Texas Rangers’ Double-A affiliate.
HICKORY CRAWDADS – L, 15-1 AT HUDSON VALLEY
High-A, South Atlantic League (62-57, 3rd, 10.0 GB)
Hickory was handed a lopsided, 15-1, loss from Hudson Valley on Saturday night after the Crawdads were outhit, 24-2. Starter RHP Ricky Vanasco pitched five innings, that saw seven hits, two earned runs, three walks, and seven strikeouts. RF Angel Aponte (1-3, R) and SS Keyber Rodriguez (1- 3, 2B) were the lone Crawdads to record a hit in the game. Hickory will look to avoid their fifth straight loss this afternoon at 1:05 p.m.
DOWN EAST WOOD DUCKS – L, 6-4 AT FREDERICKSBURG
Low-A, Carolina League (60-59, 3rd, 6.5 GB)
The Wood Ducks fell short in last night’s game as they suffered a 6-4 loss at Fredericksburg. LF JoJo Blackmon went 1-for-4 with a triple and run scored. 1B Liam Hicks (1-3, 2B, RBI, BB) and 2B Junior Paniagua (1-3, 2B, R) each tallied a double in the game. On the mound, Starter RHP Josh Gessner (4.0 IP, 7 H, 5 R-ER, 2 BB, 5 SO, HR) took the loss for the Woodies. Down East will look to avoid their sixth loss in their last seven games with a victory this afternoon at 12:35 p.m.
