ROUND ROCK EXPRESS – L, 17-8 VS OKLAHOMA CITY
Triple-A, Pacific Coast League (67-57, 2nd, 5.0 GB)
Round Rock fell, 17-8, in the series opener against OKC last night. Starter RHP Cole Winn was tagged with the loss after his 0.2 IP performance saw six runs on three hits, three walks and one strikeout. CF Josh Smith extended his hitting streak to six games after a 2-for-3 performance that included a home run, three runs batted in, two walks, and three runs scored. 3B Josh Jung (2-5, 2B, RBI) and SS Davis Wendzel (2-4, HR, RBI, BB, 2 R) recorded multi-hit games as well for the Express.
FRISCO ROUGHRIDERS – L, 5-4 AT AMARILLO
Double-A, Texas League (64-56, 1st, 0.5 GA)
Frisco allowed four unanswered runs in the late innings to lose on a walk-off at Amarillo on Tuesday night. Starter RHP Jack Leiter earned a nodecision after tossing 5.0 innings-pitched that saw six hits, two runs, one walk, and five strikeouts. In the month of August, Leiter has gone 0-1, 3.96 ERA (11 ER/25.0 IP) with 31 strikeouts and 13 walks. SS Luisangel Acuna led the team with a 2-hit game (2-4, 2B, R). 2B Justin Foscue hit his 11th home run of the year in a 1-for-4 effort. RF Aaron Zavala extended his hitting streak to 7 games after going 1-for-4. Zavala is hitting .396 with 5 2B, 2 HR, and 12 RBI in 15 games since making his Double-A debut on July 30th.
HICKORY CRAWDADS – POSTPONED
High-A, South Atlantic League (62-58, 3rd, 11.5 GB)
Hickory’s scheduled game against Aberdeen on Tuesday night was postponed due to inclement weather. The two teams will make up the game today as part of a traditional doubleheader beginning at 4:05 p.m.
Hickory, the Texas Rangers’ High-A affiliate, is looking to end their five-game losing streak with a win in the first game.
DOWN EAST WOOD DUCKS – W, 10-4 VS FAYETTEVILLE
Low-A, Carolina League (62-59, 3rd, 5.5 GB)
Down East cruised to a 10-4 victory over Fayetteville in the series opener between the two teams on Tuesday night. Starter LHP Mitch Bratt earned the win after allowing one unearned run on four hits, two walks and six strikeouts in five innings pitched. RF JoJo Blackmon (2-4, 3B, 3 RBI, 2 R), LF Yosy Galan (2-4, HR, 3 RBI, BB, R), SS Maximo Acosta (2-4, BB, R), and 1B Liam Hicks (2-3, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, R) all recorded multi-hit games for the Wood Ducks. Galan’s home run was his team-leading 18th of the season.
ACL RANGERS – SEASON COMPLETE
Arizona Complex League West (32-22, 1st, 3.0 GA)
The ACL Rangers saw their season end on August 25th with a 9-6 loss to the ACL Giants Black squad in the ACL semifinals. The Rangers won the ACL West division by three games and finished with the 6th-best record in the Arizona Complex League at season’s end. In the middle of their season, the Rangers went on a historic 16 game winning streak. Since 2005, the year MLB began tracking day-by-day stats, the 16 G win streak is the longest win streak in the Arizona Complex League and for a Rangers affiliate.
