SHREVEPORT, La. — The C.E. Byrd Yellow Jackets got the best of the Pleasant Grove Hawks 34-7 Friday night in an intra-state, non-district bout.
The Yellow Jackets outgained the Hawks 357 to 111 yards.
Spencer Danner was the leading rusher for the Hawks as he generated 31 yards on eight carries. The Hawks had 91 yards rushing. Jaylen Boardley had five carries for 19 yards. Kaden McFadden had five carries for oufr yards. Ahkhari Johnson had 21 yards on six rushes.
Jaden Stewart caught a 10-yard pass along with carrying seven times for 12 yards.
Torrion Phillips had three carries for four yards along with a catch for 43 yards.
Johnson was 2-10 passing for 53 yards.
McFadden had the lone Pleasant Grove score of the game when he returned a Byrd fumble 26 yards for a touchdown.
Lake Lambert went 3-8 for 58 yards. Lambert also had 13 carries for 45 yards.
Dickson Poirior had a 15-yard catch along with eight carries for 82 yards and two touchdowns.
Jackson Dufrene caught two passes for 43 yards and a touchdown and had a 49-yard touchdown run.
Devon Strickland had nine carries for 23 yards. Tyler Nichols had three carries for five yards. Josh Allen had two carries for 71 yards.
J.D. Gallman had three carries. Desmond Simmon had three carries for 23 yards.
“It started off a pretty good football game, but we just didn’t capitalize on opportunities,” coach Josh Gibson said. “They exposed some things that we are going to fix.”
