TEXARKANA — The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department (TAPD) says they will be hosting their National Night Out on Oct. 4 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The police are asking citizens in neighborhoods across Texarkana, Arkansas, to turn their porch lights on and get together with friends and neighbors for an evening outside to celebrate.

According to the police, National Night Out “has proven to be an effective, inexpensive, and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and community partnerships.”

The campaign is a year-long community building campaign, is designed to:

  • Heighten crime prevention awareness
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
  • Send a message to criminals, letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

TAPD says that representatives from the police department, Texarkana Arkansas Fire Department, and Texarkana, Arkansas city hall will start their visits this year at approximately 6:00 p.m.

The police department will also be available for questions and citizens are invited to share concerns about police services in the neighborhood.

Anyone interested in National Night Out should register by phone at 903-798-3560 or email Corporal Kelly Pilgreen at kelly.pilgreen@txkusa.org.
