
HOUSTON (AP) — Seth Brown homered and drove in four runs, Cole Irvin overcame a rocky start and the Oakland Athletics beat the Houston Astros 8-5. Tony Kemp had three hits and scored three runs as Oakland won for the fourth time in 15 games this month, and snapped Houston’s six-game winning streak a day after the Astros clinched a postseason berth.
Brown’s three-run homer in the fifth gave Oakland a 6-4 lead.

He had an RBI double in the seventh. Houston’s magic number to clinch the AL West remained at four. Aledmys Diaz, Kyle Tucker and Trey Mancini homered in the Astros’ four-run first, and Yordan Alvarez went deep for the fourth time in two games.
