Pleasant Grove gets a kill during Friday's volleyball match with Liberty-Eylau. The Lady Hawks are 5-0 after the first half of league play.

Pleasant Grove (30-8, 5-0) finished the first half of district play Friday at Liberty-Eylau’s Rader Dome by sweeping past the Lady Leopards 25-13, 25-22, 25-17.

“This game gave us a good look at tall, athletic blocks,” said coach Amy Collvins. “Adi Koller had a great game hitting. Defensively we got better at reacting to balls and not hesitating at times.

PG girls fight to stay unbeaten

“We will have to play cleaner on Tuesday against North Lamar. I’m glad to be halfway through district unbeaten. Being undefeated in the first round tells you about the fight and unwillingness to give up. We are young, but these girls come to play. Losing isn’t an option.”

Abigail Boehmke led the Lady Hawks at the service line with 12 points against L-E. Reese Gibbs served nine points and contributed 19 assists. Mackenzie Williams also had 19 assists, and Koller finished with 15 kills.
