The #7 Pleasant Grove Hawks torpedoed the Pitsburg Pirates 35-0 Friday night at Hawk Stadium in the schools homecoming game.
The Hawks scored on 5 of their 6 offensive possessions while shutting out the Pirates slot T – offense sending their student body and fans into a frenzy.
Pleasant Grove Junior quarterback Ahkhari Johnson completed 4-of-6 pass attempts for 87 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown was a 45-yard bomb to senior Russell “RJ” Collins.
The Hawks running backs made it a Texarkana 3-party. Spencer “Spence” Danner totted the pigskin 9 times for 73 yards. Kadden McFadden carried the ball 6 times for 55 yards and 2 touchdowns and Jaylen Boardley rushed for 14 yards and a touchdown. Boardley also had 2 receptions for 27 yards.
Hawks head coach Josh Gibson was pleased
“A 35-0 district win is huge,” Josh Gibson Pleasant Grove Hawks head coach said. ” I’m proud of the offense for scoring on 5-of-six possessions and proud of the defense for holding them out of the endzone.”
Pleasant Grove’s defense was stellar. The 94.1 FM ESPN-Texarkana player of the game was defensive end “Big” Vic Shaw.
