Pleasant Grove running back Jaylen Boardley scored three touchdowns Thursday night at Hawk Stadium on Senior Night as the Hawks blanked North Lamar, 55-0.

Jaylen Boardley’s numbers on offense haven’t been what some Pleasant Grove football fans expected at the start of the 2022 season. That’s because, Boardley, the Hawks’ multi-talented star has been contributing more on defense.

His offensive statistics jumped way up Thursday on Senior Night at Hawk Stadium as Boardley scored three touchdowns in leading Pleasant Grove (7-2, 3-1) past North Lamar, 55-0.

Damon Stewart had the Hawks on the scoreboard in the opening minutes with a touchdown. It appeared they were touchdown bound on their second possession of the game, but fumbled at the Panthers’ 1.

Boardley scored again with 1:39 left in the first quarter on an 8-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Ahakari Johnson. He also scored on a 31-yard pass from Johnson in the third quarter. His 25-yard scoring run in the third quarter made it 48-0.

Johnson finished with three touchdown passes and a 2-yard scoring run.

Coach Josh Gibson started clearing his bench in the third quarter, alternating several young players at running back. Kaden McFadden scored on a 40-yard TD scamper in the fourth quarter. He also had a 25-yard TD run in the second quarter. R.J. Collins hauled in a 30-yard scoring pass, and set up another Pleasant Grove scoring opportunity with a 63-yard run.

Torion Phillips scored the Hawks’ other touchdown in the second quarter.

Assured of second place in district behind Gilmer, the Hawks will face the third-place team from District 8-4A.
