The Pleasant Grove Hawks defeated the Aubrey Chaperells 37-14 in Paris setting up a regional final showdown with the Carthage Bulldogs.
Hawks junior quarterback Ahkhari Johnson was named the 94.1 FM ESPN Texarkana-Rogers Trophy player of the game. Johnson completed 8 of 16 passes for 145 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushed 13 times for 107 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Hawks running back Jayden “Hollywood” Stewart had 6 carries for 53 yards and Kadden “K-Mac” McFadden rushed 5 times for 50 yards. Hawks senior RJ Collins had 2 receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown and Torion Phillips had 2 receptions for 38 yards.

“I’m proud of our kids, they’ve been a great team all year,” Josh Gibson, Pleasant Grove Hawks head coach said. “Aubrey’s been a great team all year and for our kids to come out and dominate the way they did in the first half is really awesome.
Johnson said the key to victory for the Hawks was execution.
“We came out and executed and did everything we did in practice and it worked out.”
Ahkhari Johnson said the Hawks will need to limit their penalties in the next round
“We need to limit our penalties,” Johnson said.”We know when we come out against the number 1 or number 2 team; we have to do our job.”
Pleasant Grove will play #1 Carthage next Friday in Marshall in the Regional final. Carthage defeated Gilmer 28-7 in their regional semi-final. The Pleasant Grove versus Carthage game will be broadcast live on 94.1 FM ESPN-Texarkana.
